Curved Bulkheads with Decolite
8 Merchant Place in Sandton, has recently undergone a major revamp, which included curved bulkheads in Decolite. The Decolite lightweight curved bulkheads used to cover the exposed underside of the existing aluminium roof of the undercover walkways. The renovation project for Eris Property Group and FNB Property Development, was designed by Boogertman and Partners Architects, Johannesburg, while Metrum where responsible for project management and Trencon Construction were main contractor.
Custom made curved bulkheads
The Decolite curved bulkheads were formed from high density EPS, and then coated with our propriety polymer system. The final result was an aesthetically pleasing glossy curved element. Due to the fact that there are no design limitations with Decolite, the architect was able to specify continuous rolling curves to enhance the aesthetic of the external walkways which link the various buildings within the complex. With Decolite, the architect or designer is able to choose from a range of finishes, which on this project, was high gloss, in white, as per architects specification.
Hard wearing and appealing
The hard-wearing external casing on the Decolite profiles is completely weather proof and impervious to water ingress. The proprietary casing completely encases the profile, allowing for longevity of product. Decolite profiles have a been manufactured and installed for a period of over 19 years, not only in South Africa, but in to sub-Saharan Africa as well. Lightweight Decolite Ceilings
Decolite allows complete flexibility in design, which is due to the fact that there are no restrictions on panel sizes or contours. Due to Decolite’ s lightweight nature, we are able to install any element with the minimum of fuss. With the new panels having minimum weight loading, installation was made easy with EPS bulkheads which ensured the integrity and uniformity of the curves. Each Decolite installation requires our team to work with the architects to design the most suitable fixing system which considers, wind loading, aesthetics and panel weight . Each fixing system is customised to suit the requirements of the project. The design in this case allowed for easy access with the panels being installed from a mobile scaffold.
