What is Cladding?

Cladding, as a building element, offers many solutions in construction, Technically, it is viewed as any material that is applied over an external skin of a building. It may be applied for thermal, or aesthetic reasons, or in order to upgrade an existing facade.

Decolite for External and Internal Cladding

Cladding may be used in any application or project, be it for residential, commercial or industrial projects.

Decolite as a cladding material is the perfect solution whether on a new build or as an additional skin on an existing building. Our cladding profiles are the perfect solution for both interior and exterior cladding projects.

New Buildings Using External Wall Cladding

The reason an architect or designer would make use of an external cladding on a new building would be for thermal insulation, to create a curtain wall or for purely aesthetic reasons

Typically, Decolite would be used in for aesthetic purposes to create a visual effect that would not be achievable with the use of standard building materials. As plaster and paint offer several advantages, Decolite cladding panels allow freedom of design and are not limited to standard panel sizes, nor are there standard fixing details. A designer is able to create any number of forms in the creation of an elevation.

Basically, the visual effect of a building may be greatly enhanced when using Decolite to clad a new building. Be it a facade cladding, or simply a fascia, Decolite adds an architectural detail that would not be achievable with any other material.

Cladding as a Refurbishment

Should the need arise to upgrade or refurb an existing building, be it a shopping centre or an office block, Decolite is the perfect commercial building cladding material.

Due to the fact that each Decolite panel is individually cut, there is no limitation with regards to the number different panel sizes. Thus, making it easier to overclad with Decolite panes and fit in with the grid lines of the existing building. In addition to this, the existing structure would not require any reinforced structural enhancement in order to support the Decolite cladding due to its lightweight nature.

No Limitations.

When considering Decolite for external or internal cladding, the design of each panel or profile is not limited to panels size, thickness, or minimum radii. Free flow design which allows for any 3-dimesnionsal form makes Decolite the material of choice when considering cladding.

Perfect Lightweight Cladding Solution

Due to the fact that Decolite is lightweight, also allows for creative design detailing in the cladding. With very little additional weight to the facade of the building, facade engineering and support structure is reduced to a minimum.

Ease of Installation

When specifying Decolite as a cladding, installation plays a major role in that the Decolite is easy to install. Standard v=building materials require hoisting with cranes or extensive scaffolding in order to place the material in position. However, with Decolite, the elements are light enough to be passed up the building by hand and put into place. The ease of installation reduces time on site, thus reducing scaffolding costs and overall cost to client.

Adaptability of our Cladding Profiles

Due to the fact that each Decolite profile is custom made, the architect is able to include a number of details which would not be possible in any other cladding material. The introduction of drip points or shadow lines is simple, as well as the inclusion of lighting or lighting trough, into the cladding detail, is simple.
